Meet Dr. Devgan
Uday Devgan, MD, FACS, is an international expert in ocular surgery and has more than 10 years of experience in performing the full spectrum of eye surgery, including LASIK, Cataract Surgery and the Implantable Contact Lens. His expertise in the areas of small-incision cataract removal, refractive lens exchange, accommodating and multi-focal lenses provides our patients with more surgical options as well as successful alternatives for those who may not be good candidates for LASIK.
After graduating as valedictorian of Santa Monica High School, Dr. Devgan accepted multiple scholarships to UCLA where he majored in microbiology and molecular genetics. He earned his M.D. with Highest Distinction at the top of his class at the USC School of Medicine where he was co-president of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He trained at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, where he won awards for outstanding achievement as well as research.
Serving as Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at UCLA and Chief of Ophthalmology at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Devgan has won the annual UCLA teaching award for his work, and annually he awards the best UCLA resident ophthalmologist with the Devgan Award for Surgical Excellence. In addition to performing surgery and teaching other surgeons, he writes regular columns in multiple eye surgery journals, creates award-winning surgery instructional videos for Bausch & Lomb, and designs surgical instruments that are distributed world-wide. Dr. Devgan is sought as a consultant to develop and improve new technologies for multiple companies in the eye surgery industry.
He has traveled to 30 countries in the past 3 years to teach and perform surgery. He recently taught the first course in modern cataract surgery in Vietnam. He has trained and instructed hundreds of other surgeons, and has personally performed more than 6000 ocular surgeries.

Dr. Devgan not only performed surgery on his own father, but also Dr. Maloney’s father; both retired surgeons. Implantable Contact Lens (Visian ICL Surgery) in Los Angeles
But what if I'm not a candidate for LASIK? Well, there may be other options available to you, such as the Visian ICL. The ICL is the Implantable Contact Lens, which is a permanent, ultra-thin lens that is surgically placed inside the eye, behind the iris (the blue, green, or brown part of the eye). It requires no maintenance or cleaning and you will not feel it or even know that it's there.
In Los Angeles, California, at the Maloney Vision Institute, the ICL Surgery is presented as an option to appropriate candidates, along with the other surgical options available. The ICL also has the advantage of being removable from the eye, so that even many years down the road, should better technologies become available, it would be relatively easy to upgrade.
